Rules of the boarding house

What parents need to know about calls, visits, money and conduct.

Calls, visits & letters

  • Parents may telephone their wards on Sundays and holidays. So that everyone gets a fair turn, a call should not run beyond three minutes; the hostel in-charge may disconnect the line.
  • Parents and guardians may meet their wards every second Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and may take them home every fourth Saturday after the Parent-Teacher meet. Entry, exit and meetings are not permitted after 6 p.m.
  • Parents may meet class teachers at the Parent-Teacher meet, every fourth Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
  • Visiting parents must not enter the boarding house without the prior approval of the Director Boarding. The boarding houses are the private home of the school community.
  • Outings: parents, guardians, or those authorised by the parents may take their wards out on the days the school prescribes.
  • During breaks, parents must come to the school and accompany their children home.
  • All correspondence to and from students is handled by the Director Academic.

Money & belongings

  • Pocket money is issued to boarders by the school and debited to their account. Additional pocket money for a birthday or a holiday is permitted through the school office only.
  • Parents are advised not to leave valuables in the possession of their children.
  • No pupil may buy, sell or exchange goods, or lend or borrow money, on campus without the approval of the Director Boarding.
  • Parents are asked not to send food packets; anything received is shared among all the students.

Conduct & safety

  • Smoking and drugs are strictly forbidden. The school reserves the right to expel a student found guilty of either.
  • The Director Boarding may ask parents to withdraw a child whose presence he considers a bad influence on others.
  • The school takes every precaution for the safety of children but cannot be held responsible for injury suffered during games, sports, camping or other activities.
  • No verbal commitment made on behalf of the school is binding, and no verbal request from parents is accepted. Anything a parent wishes to raise should be put in writing.
