The Montessori Way
The Montessori method is a child-centred way of teaching, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. It focuses on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play.
At Mamta Niketan, Pre-Nursery and Kindergarten are taught this way: children learn by handling, building and doing, in air-conditioned classrooms.
Core Principles of Montessori

Self-Directed Learning
Children choose their own activities from a carefully chosen set, building motivation and the habit of finishing what they start.

The Prepared Environment
Child-sized furniture, materials within easy reach and an uncluttered room, so children can work on their own.

Multi-Age Classrooms
Younger children learn by watching older ones, and older children strengthen what they know by helping.

Specialized Materials
Concrete, hands-on materials, such as beads and blocks, make ideas like number and shape something a child can hold.

The Teacher as a Guide
Teachers watch each child’s pace and interests and step in to guide, rather than lecture from the front.
